The JCDS preprimary team would like to thank parents and students who participated in our book drive for Books-A-Go Go Bibliophiles of America last month. On December 12, Books-A-Go Go president Betty Metz accepted a donation of 179 books collected by our preprimary family.
Gayle Wilson, preprimary head, talked to the children about the importance of serving others and how monumental these books will be for the children receiving them.
Books-A-Go Go collects used and new children's books and gives them to children from low-income families. Books-A-Go Go has given thousands and thousands of books to children whose families cannot afford to buy them the books they need. For many children, it may be the first book in their home. In the past two years the organization has given away approximately 85,000 books to needy children. For for information on this organinzation, check out their website at www.booksagogo.org.
Update: The books were distributed to children who needed them. The smiles on their faces show how much the books were appreciated! The preprimary students, their parents, and the staff of JCDS are proud to have been a part of this worthy cause.
