Camp Spotlight 2010
Fifty-two campers worked tirelessly over 5 days to present a variety act on July 9, 2010. Now in its 6th year, Camp Spotlight gave students a chance to sing, dance, and act in a show themed “Seize the Day!”
This year, 35 campers were current JCDS students or alumni.
“I'm constantly amazed at how much they will learn in only 5 days,” said Virginia Dickert, JCDS music director. “The choreography is tough and they have tons of words to memorize very quickly.”
This year’s show consisted of 15 separate acts which took the audience through a 24-hour day. The students performed songs like “Good Morning” from Singin’ in the Rain and "Coffee Break" from How To Succeed In Business Without Really Trying. Some other acts were "Suppertime" from You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown and "I Have A Dream" from Mamma Mia. The show ended appropriately with "Tomorrow" from Annie.
“The kids had a wonderful time,” Ms. Dickert said. “Everyone was very enthusiastic and totally focused.”
Camp Spotlight will be offered again next summer from July 11-15 for rising 4th through 9th graders. ![]()
