It's Open!
After a long winter of watching the construction of the two pools, the new Aquatic Center officially opened on May 29, 2009 — the last day of school.
A random drawing in each grade level meant that Alexander S. from Junior Kindergarten was the first student to dip his feet in the water. Alex chose to go into the small pool. He went in slowly at first, as the water was still a little chilly from the heavy rains at the end of May.
By the end of the day, all students had the opportunity to get wet. Many students enjoyed creating a whirlpool in the smaller pool, while others swam laps in the larger pool.
Summer campers are using the pools daily, escaping the June and July heat. Of course, our students are looking forward to swim lessons as part of P.E. in the the 2009-10 school year.
