Pinwheels for Peace

First graders show off their creations for the Pinwheels for Peace project.
On Monday, September 21st, the International Day of Peace will be celebrated worldwide. This important observance draws awareness about the importance of peace. The focus can be on tolerance, freedom from disagreement among people, and a state of calm and tranquility.
Imagine...a million pinwheels spinning in the wind! Pinwheels in the United States, Great Britain, South America, Australia, the Middle East, Canada, Africa, Europe, and Asia. Large pinwheels, small pinwheels, colorful pinwheels, all decorated with words of peace and harmony written on them. This is the Pinwheels for Peace project.
Students in first and second grades are busy making their pinwheels. The Art Sharks and the third and fourth graders from the Art Afterschool program join them.
Monday, September 21st, be on the lookout for these magnificent pinwheels at the Front Circle. Help us as we celebrate Pinwheels for Peace.
