Forty Laps of Fun!
And they're off! The 6th-graders take long strides as the Fun Run begins.
The annual Fun Run was held on November 16. It was an exciting and challenging event for JCDS students and staff.
Organized by the Parents' Association, the Fun Run raised money to support the teachers' wish lists. The wish lists include software, games, and other materials that will be used in classrooms to enhance learning and make school more fun.
Each participating student was asked to get sponsors who would donate money to the school depending on the number of laps the students ran, up to 40 laps. A sponsor could also agree to donate a fixed amount. Some eager students ran well beyond 40 laps!
Ms. Emily Dickert and Coach Bryan Librizzi served as announcers and DJs, keeping the students motivated. The national anthem was performed live by Griffin B. and Parker K.
Students were sweaty but feeling victorious after achieving their goal of 40 laps.
The weather was lovely and quite warm by the afternoon. In all, the students consumed 85 gallons of water to keep them hydrated during the run. Afterwards, 500 smiley-faced cookies restored some of the energy burned during the run. Each runner also received a medal to commemorate their achievement.
Students and teachers should reap the rewards of the Fun Run soon, as items from the wish lists begin to appear in their classrooms. ![]()
